Read about Belinda

My parents brought home our first ever Siamese kitten when I was 5 years old. Samantha, a seal point girl who lived into her 14th year, was the beginning of a life long love for elegant oriental cats. Before the family lost Sammy, we purchased 2 new seal point female kittens and Serendippidee for Siamese was born. Sirikit, one of these foundation girls, can be traced right through to the current lines – 30 plus years on!

I have been an exhibitor in Queensland and South Australia in Shorthair, Siamese and Oriental sections for the last 33 years and have bred several Cat of the Year and Reserve Cat of the Year cats. I have also shown infrequently in the Domestic / Companion section as well. My first show cat was a blue point Siamese and many years on, blue still seems to be the colour we are best known for.

I became a Group 2 judge in 1987 and am now an All Breeds judge and have continued to enjoy being involved with this area, judging across Australia and New Zealand as well as the Philippines. I am also a tutor judge for the Feline Control Council of Queensland Inc.

Away from cats, I am a scientist (animal pathology), teach and choreograph classical ballet and contemporary dance, and endeavour to raise three children.

I still get an enormous buzz out of watching kittens grow and my philosophy has always been to breed well balanced, healthy, happy kittens for people like me who love the Siamese and Oriental breed. If, in the process of doing this, I produce show winners, then that’s an added bonus

Bernadette has co–bred and co–owned many Oriental Cats of the Year. In 1990, they were also introduced to the unique characteristics and playfulness of Turkish Vans when they took home GDGC Vanstar Willow Wisp of Vanwillow, who became the foundation queen of a multi–award–winning Turkish Van line. PDGC Vanwillow Wonder Woman won the first ACF AoE on the mainland and was the first CCCA Champion Turkish Van.
Bernadette has been a member of many cat–related committees since 1990 and is currently (@ Feb 2009) President of the Siamese and Shorthair Cat Club of Queensland Inc., which will celebrate its 50th birthday in 2010.

She has organised many successful seminars, on feline, educational and tertiary entrance topics, over the last 20 years and has a great interest in ongoing information programs for judges, breeders and exhibitors.

Bernadette is committed to cat welfare and the breeding of quality, happy, pet cats and always enjoys judging Group 4 exhibits because they are always much loved by their owners.
